Hello world! I’ve been slowly and steadily working on an update to this expansion. There’s A LOT of new content here and most of it is PC creation options.On the previous version I leaned sort of away of the classless vibe of Knave 2e, but this time I wanted to revamp my ideas and work towards a more functional “fantasy adventuring life simulation” thing.
A choice of career
So, as you can see from the new screenshots, I decided to give every career in the game a small perk to punctuate gameplay style alongside roleplaying. Each and every single one of the 100 careers now does uh… something. This is not intended to be balanced or even consistent tbh. But I did my best to make as many of these as interesting as I could. And YES, the Cook got an ability to buff you with their delicious (in dungeon?) food now, average Ryoko Kui enjoyers rejoyce!
Following the stars
Another new thing is the addition of Birthsigns. This is very much an Elder Scrolls inspired thing, but it also has that trait feel from the old school Fallout games, where you would pick an optional starting thing that gave an advantage in exchange for a disadvantage. These are optional and kinda crazy tbh, but they can work together with the Ancestry options to make VERY interesting characters from the get go, particulary in solo play (as I know many of us do these days). I.e. you have The Lady which gives you a powerful spirit companion in exchange of not having any other companions, and The Apprentice which makes you start without any careers but gives you a bonus to trying new things.
Fallen soldiers
The Archetypes thing has been largely discontinued. I will keep the older PDF release here just to not tamper with anyone’s ability to find it though. After careful consideration I realised class-like archetypes go hard against Knave’s design sensibilities, and I didn´t wanted to put in the effort to make them work. They might end up appearing again at some point, maybe for another system, I liked my Acrobat representation :)
Ars Magicka
I changed my mind about magic too. Knave’s 2e magic has proven in my games to be kinda… boring really. And I decided that trying to expand on the core magic system was just not going to cut it. So GLoG magic is coming! Exciting, spicy, kinda terrifying GLoG magic! In fact it is already here, the rules fit in one page, have been tested in both solo and group play, and I might upload them early so you can grab your favorite GLoG spell list and go to town.
Moar soon (tm)
There’s no PDF release as of right now, mostly because my document is a big mess of things that need heavy editing. And I keep adding stuff and messing with the organization. Testing for some of the new things is coming too so I want to have my things hit the asphalt at least once before publishing.
